Polycule & ENM Counseling

Polyamory Counseling & ENM Therapy in Cincinnati & Throughout Ohio

Looking for therapy within your ethical non-monogamous (ENM) relationship, but tired of having to explain your relationship structure to someone who doesn’t get it?

I get it. I’ve lived it myself, which–even though all relationships are different–is at least a start!

We know that healthy relationships aren’t defined by the number of people involved; they’re built through communication, trust, consent, and shared understanding.

Whether you’re exploring ethical non-monogamy for the first time, navigating an established polycule, or simply hoping to strengthen your existing agreements, therapy can provide a space to slow down, better understand one another, and navigate challenges without having to first explain or justify your relationship structure.

At Bluebel Counseling, I provide affirming counseling for individuals, couples, and polycules throughout Ohio—both in person in Cincinnati and via telehealth.

You might benefit from ENM therapy because...

  • You’re opening your relationship and want to build a strong foundation.
  • You hoped for compersion, but what you got was jealousy.
  • Jealousy has become more complicated than you expected.
  • You’re struggling to balance multiple relationships.
  • Communication feels increasingly difficult.
  • Existing agreements no longer seem to fit.
  • A new partner has shifted relationship dynamics.
  • You’re navigating conflict between metamours.
  • One partner wants a different relationship structure than the other.
  • You’re questioning whether consensual non-monogamy is right for you.
  • You’re looking for a therapist who won’t ask you to defend your relationships before therapy can even begin.

If any of these resonate, you’re not alone. Relationships become more complex as more people, needs, and perspectives become involved—but being complex doesn’t mean you’re “too much”.

What Polyamory Counseling & ENM Therapy Can Help With

I listen to your goals, helping you and your loved ones build relationships that are intentional, respectful, and aligned with your values.

My ENM Therapy Approach

Given how much I champion the idea of ensuring folks’ needs get met, it is no wonder that I am an advocate for ENM. For some, it just makes sense. The issues that arise are often a result of having been raised in a society where monogamy is not only the dominant structure, it is the default structure. There are still many who do not realize ENM exists, let alone the difference between polyamory and polygamy.

The least I can do is offer a space that works with you, not against you. Here, it makes sense that you might question things like

  • What does commitment mean to us?
  • What needs are we hoping each relationship fulfills?
  • How do we define trust?
  • What agreements actually support our relationships?
  • How do we repair when someone gets hurt?
  • How do we make room for everyone’s needs without losing ourselves?

In our work together, I center your values, your goals, your agreements, and your boundaries.

An Affirming Perspective

Many people seeking ENM-affirming therapy have had the experience of spending the first session educating their therapist.

Not here.

Whether your relationships involve two people or several, my goal is to create a space where we can focus on communication, connection, and the challenges you’re experiencing—not on whether your relationship structure is inherently valid.

At the same time, affirmation doesn’t mean avoiding difficult conversations.

Like any relationship, consensual non-monogamy involves accountability, repair, boundaries, and ongoing communication. My role is to support those conversations with curiosity, honesty, and compassion.

What CNM Counseling May Look Like

Depending on your goals, counseling may include:

  • Clarifying shared values
  • Improving communication
  • Reviewing or developing relationship agreements
  • Navigating jealousy and insecurity
  • Repairing trust after conflict
  • Understanding attachment patterns
  • Strengthening emotional regulation
  • Exploring relationship transitions
  • Supporting healthier boundaries
  • Facilitating conversations between partners or members of a polycule

Some sessions may include everyone involved, while others may involve only one partner, one relationship, or a smaller group within a larger constellation of relationships. We will work together to determine what works best to meet your needs.

Neurodiversity in Non-Monogamous Relationships

If you suspected that non-monogamy and neurodivergence were two peas in a pod, you’d be on to something!

These identities often intersect in meaningful ways.

Communication preferences, sensory needs, executive functioning, emotional regulation, routines, and social expectations can all shape how relationships are experienced and maintained.

Rather than assuming one communication style fits everyone, I help partners better understand one another’s differences so that agreements, expectations, and boundaries are explored from the perspective of supporting all participants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all! I also work with individuals, couples, families, and other types of relationships (friendships, colleagues, etc.). This page is simply dedicated to one area of my practice.

Yes, please! Consensual non-monogamy is hard. It is also a big decision to make--and once made, could have lasting consequences. Many folks have found that more prep work on the front end has set them up for greater success down the road.

I'm here for it! Whether you are solo-poly, single, nesting, or any other status, we can absolutely do CNM-affirming individual therapy work together.

Not necessarily. Depending on your goals, sessions may include one person, one couple within a larger relationship network, multiple partners, or an entire polycule.

That is not my call. :) My role isn’t to persuade you toward or away from any particular relationship structure. Instead, I help you explore your values, goals, communication, and relationships so you can make intentional decisions that fit your lives.

This actually happens a lot. When working with this dynamic, I hold a structured and compassionate space for both partners to express their hopes, fears, values, and boundaries and be heard by their loved one. What happens next depends on what was shared, and how well each partner was able to really listen to one another.
